The SMARTEMP HSC-FD Fixed Helical Swirl Diffuser is designed for modern HVAC systems. It is ideal for applications that need flexible airflow, low supply-air temperatures and VAV operation. It features specially designed swirl vanes with a helical twist inside a bell-mouth outlet. As a result, it delivers excellent air mixing and performs consistently, even when airflow is turned down.

- Flush-face diffuser with a fixed opening and fixed blades for a clean, modern finish.
- Designed for VAV systems with high-performance swirl vanes:
- Firstly, offset vanes guide the air into the bell-mouth.
- In addition, curved leading edges help the air stay attached to the vanes and reduce airflow separation.
- Finally, the helical vane design creates a smooth and stable airflow pattern.
- The bell-mouth outlet and swirl action create a strong Coanda effect. Consequently, the airflow remains stable across the ceiling, even at low temperatures or reduced airflow.
- Handles airflow up to 440 L/s (approximately 1584 m³/h), depending on size.
- Offers a wide operating range for VAV systems. For example, it can operate at around 25-28% of full airflow with a ΔTsupply-room of approximately -16 K.
- Suitable for supply-air temperatures of 8°C and above.
- Provides a 360° horizontal airflow pattern for even air distribution.
- Available with a square face for 600 x 600mm ceiling grids or, alternatively, a round face for exposed ceilings.
- Suitable for both flush ceiling and suspended installations, depending on the model.

Construction & Options
The HSC-FD is made from powder-coated galvanised steel. Selected sizes are also available in stainless steel. In addition, the fixed swirl vanes sit flush with the face to create a neat, architectural look.
Optional accessories and variants include:
- Neck reducers to lower airflow while maintaining the wide VAV operating range.
- Segment covers that change the airflow pattern from 360° to 270°, 180° or twin 90° outlets.
- CleanScreen™ option with a perforated centre hub. It sends clean, dry air across the diffuser face to help reduce dirt, condensation and maintenance. Therefore, it is ideal for coastal areas, lobbies, restaurants and other demanding spaces.
- A choice of square lay-in faces (DN250-DN500) or, alternatively, round faces for exposed ductwork or connection boxes.
