The SMARTEMP ADS-FD is purpose-designed for installation in the vertical face of steps or staircases beneath fixed seating in auditoria and lecture theatres. It delivers conditioned air through a perforated metal face using a low-velocity, slightly upward-inclined discharge pattern. As a result, it creates a gentle “lake” of conditioned air at floor level around each occupant. Meanwhile, convective plumes carry heat and contaminants upwards and away from the occupied zone.
The diffuser supplies air at a relatively high temperature, typically around 19°C. It also delivers air at very low velocity (≤ 60 L/(s·m) / 216 m³/(h·m)). Consequently, it minimises draughts at ankle level. Therefore, it is ideal for auditoria, lecture theatres and other performance or education venues where occupant comfort and acoustics are important.
Key Features
- Standard rectangular face measures 120mm high × 500mm wide. In addition, custom heights from 100mm to 300mm are available.
- Perforated metal face with round holes arranged in a 60° staggered pattern. Furthermore, bespoke perforation patterns are available on request.
- Aluminium frame with a powder-coated galvanised steel face. Colour finishes are available to suit project specifications.
- Ultra-quiet operation with a sound power level (Lw) of ≤15dB(A). As a result, the diffuser delivers virtually silent performance.
- Fixed horizontal-to-upward discharge pattern. Consequently, it minimises air velocity in the ankle zone while maintaining occupant comfort.
- Optimised for displacement ventilation. Therefore, it promotes thermal stratification, reduces fan energy consumption, extends the free-cooling operating range and improves overall ventilation effectiveness.
